After we got TiVo, and with it the awesome ability to pause and rewind live television, I found that my subconscious would attempt to carry over this power into other mediums in my life. Most often the car radio. I would blindly grope the space between the front seats for a nonexistent remote control in order to hear something I'd missed on NPR.
Similarly, there have been more than a few mornings that I've found myself reaching, half asleep and in the dark, for the snooze button on the baby monitor.
